Tempus fugit

Tempora mutantur et nos mutamur in illis

Bored in my Tour d'Argent, between 2 Echenoz and a Jarmush, I was skipping channels the other day and I came across images of the making of Michael Jackson's famous Moonwalk.

And all of a sudden I had this epiphany: this dance, which makes us believe that one is moving forward while going backwards, sums up an entire existence and at the same time it descri a whole century.

Michael was an adult when he was a child, and a child when he was an adult. He was a man upside down.

Michael Jackson wanted to be Peter Pan, but he was in fact Benjamin Button.

And this tells us something very captivating about the world we are living in: childhood is our last refuge, the black box of our lives.

An utopia that we refuse to leave behind.

And this refusal has become the dominant ideology of nowadays. Cause we have declared war on time.

Why does our childhood seem so sacred to us?

Because we are afraid.

We have lost confidence in a bright and colourful future.

We have no other utopia left than this lost innocence. This  is our religion.

And we dance with death as if we were walking on the Moon.

Sliding backwards, refusing to age up, regressing every day, more and more.

In need of eternity, towards the nothingness that precedes our birth.
